Anantnag: At least two army men suffered minor burn injuries after militants targeted the Casspir (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle) they were travelling in, with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) here in Pulwama district on Tuesday.
The militants also fired at the vehicle and the fire was retaliated by army men. No one was reported injured in the firing.
The incident took place at about 3:00 AM in the wee hours of the morning in Garbugh village of Lassipora area of Pulwama district.
Police, however, maintained that the explosion was similar to a “petrol bomb”.
“Several army men suffered minor burn injuries in the explosion,” a senior police official from Pulwama district told Kashmir Reader.
He said that the militants also opened fire following the explosion, which was retaliated by the army men.
The militants managed to flee the area after the firing.Soon after the explosion and the shootout, a huge contingent of government forces reached the area and carried out searches to try and nab the militants.
