Srinagar: The Basic Horticulture Training (BHT) diploma holders staged a protest demonstration here on Tuesday demanding their absorption in horticulture department.
While chanting slogans against the concerned department, the protesters assembled here in Pratap Park. The protesters demanded the absorption in state horticulture department and alleged that the department “failed to fill” more than 100 vacant posts from more than one year.
While talking to Kashmir Reader Ansaar Ahmad, a diploma holder said that, they have done this one year diploma course in the year 2017 and till now the concerned department and Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) which is the recruiting body are playing “hide and seek” with diploma holders.
“Despite the vacant posts in the department, there is no recruitment for the same and there is not even an advertisement regarding posts. Despite the fact that out of 217 vacant posts in 2013 only 89 posts were filled by department through JKSSB and rest are vacant”.
Ahmad said that one year BHT course is only done through the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology- Kashmir (SKUAST-K) in India.
He added that there are more than hundred course holders and more than fourth are about to fall in the category of over age within a year or two.
Protesting course holders said that, “we have many times approached the horticulture department for our absorption but they direct us to JKSSB and vice versa. Both they departments are fooling us from last one year”.
They said that we do not have any other option apart from the absorption because the course is “not valid” except in the horticulture department. So if we are not absorbed in the concerned department as soon as possible, than we are forced to take out further protests.
