Cyclist killed, woman injured in separate road accidents

Srinagar: A cyclist injured in a road accident in Handwara last week succumbed to his injuries, while a woman was wounded in a mishap in Pampore town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials today said.

Parvaiz Ahmed Tantray of Mawar, Handwara succumbed to his injuries at a Srinagar hospital this morning, officials said. Tantray was critically injured after his cycle was hit by a vehicle in Batgund area of Qalamabad last week.

Meanwhile, in a road mishap at Khrew Chowk in Pampore, a female government teacher was seriously wounded after she was hit by a scooty this afternoon, officials said.

The injured identified as Nayeema Akther, 45, was shifted to sub-district hospital Pampore for treatment. However, the doctors there referred her to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.
