At least 46 injured in clashes with forces in Kulgam area

Srinagar: At least 46 persons were injured- most of them with pellets-in Khudwani and Qaimoh areas of Kulgam district as clashes erupted on Wednesday following killing of two local militants in Anantnag.

A health official confirmed the number of injured to Kashmir Reader and said 6 of them have pellet injuries to their eyes.  The six have been shifted to Anantnag district hospital from SDH Qaimoh and later three of them were shifted to Srinagar, hospital sources said.

The clashes between protesters and government forces followed a gunfight in nearby Anantnag district resulting in the killing of two local militants.

Altaf Ahmad and Umar Rashid were killed in the gunfight with government forces at Muniward area of Anantnag.
