Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Miwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Monday warned of a full-fledged agitation if Article 35A is tinkered with.
“In case Supreme Court announces any verdict against the wishes and aspirations of people of J&K, that very moment mass agitation will start across the state as people will hit the roads in protest and occupy them,” they said.
In a statement while reiterating the two-day shutdown on August 30 and 31, when the case is listed in Supreme Court, the leadership said the issue is “highly emotive” for people.
Explaining today’s protest after a fresh plea was submitted in the Supreme Court, the trio said it is an “eye opener for New Dehli and gives them a clear message that Kashmiris are in no way going to take this assault lying low”. “And are ready to make every sacrifice to safeguard their identity and the disputed status of their state,” they added.
The JRL said that people of Kashmir will never allow their birth place to become another Palestine where Israel has changed demography by grabbing land to settle outsiders .
They also condemned the use of force on protesting people and students in the Valley saying, “it has become habit of the rulers to use military might on every peaceful protest in order to crush every voice”.
They urged people to maintain discipline and follow the programs conveyed by amalgam.
