SRINAGAR: In order to enlighten the younger generation of the district about rich cultural heritage and diversity, a Bharat Darshan tour of young students was organized by J&K police under civic action programme.
According to a statement issued here, about 52 students of different parts of district are participating in the tour.
DIG SKR Anantnag Amit Kumar, flagged off the tour on Monday from Mirbazar in presence of deputy commissioner Kulgam and officers from district police Kulgam.
“Lodging, boarding and transport facilities by air are being provided by district police Kulgam,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police S P Vaid flagged off a group of students for Bharat Darshan tour from Kathua. The group of fifty students including seven girl students, selected from all tehsils of the district started their tour.
“The tour has been organised by J&K police under the civic action programme and the group will return on August 31. Three caretakers from the department are accompanying the group, who will visit different places during their tour,” the statement said.
“Such tours are aimed to give the students of weaker sections know how of the diversity of the country. During their interaction the students will get knowledge of scientific developments and cultural heritage,” it added.
