Srinagar: The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a fresh petition on Monday challenging Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution.
However, the date of the previously submitted petitions shall remain unchanged and shall be therefore heard on August 31.
A senior advocate informed Kashmir Reader that a fresh petition submitted by Ashewani Upadhyay is coming up for hearing today.
“It is a fresh petition. The previous petitions challenging Article 35A will be heard on August 31,” he said.
The petition is listed in supplementary list at serial number 12 at the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court is likely to club the plea with the petitions filed earlier.
Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution bars outsiders from buying immovable property in the Jammu and Kashmir.
The resistance leadership has called for shutdown in Jammu and Kashmir on August 30 and 31 to protest the petitions challenging the Article 35-A.
