Kupwara: A Kupwara family whose minor son, Umer Farooq Malik, was killed by unidentified persons on July 20, on Sunday threatened that all family members would commit suicide if police do not arrest the killers within a week.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Farooq Ahmad, father of the killed boy, said that “we are burning in pain while the killers of my child are roaming free.”
Kulsoma, one of the elder sisters of the boy, said that she along with all her family members would commit suicide at main chowk Kupwara if police fail to arrest the killers. She said that 40 days had passed since the killing and the family is losing faith in the police.
The mother of the killed boy said that the family is unable to sleep at night. “I have seven daughters and he was our lone son. How can we live without him? I remember the day when police brought the foot wear of my child after a day, but told us not where they found it. Now we have decided that if police will not arrest the killers, we will commit suicide at Kupwara chowk,” she said.
Local sources said that on Sunday, MLA Langate Er Abdul Rasheed visited the home of the family.
A police official said that police were working on the case and the culprits will be caught soon.
