Srinagar: The Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir on Saturday paid rich tributes to slain Tariq Ahmad Malik from Kunzer Tangmarg – who was shot dead in a Mosque on Thursday.
Jama’at in a statement said Tariq was a pious and God-fearing man. “His family members totally reject the allegation that he was killed by any militant organisation,” a spokesperson said.
“In the past he had been picked up by the forces on several occasions and subjected to severe torture despite being innocent. He had established a religious seminary for teaching moral and religious values and also used to provide all possible help to the economically downtrodden people,” he said.
Jamaat strongly condemned the killing of Tariq Ahmad and demands impartial probe, a spokesperson added.
