Srinagar: Government forces last night allegedly vandalized residential houses at Ichgam village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, local sources said on Sunday.

They alleged that men in uniform created ruckus in the village and resorted to hooliganism by breaking windowpanes of houses and vehicles.

They also arrested a man from the village, local sources said. They identified him as Mohammad Ashraf Mir.

Meanwhile, army spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia refuted the allegations and said “our men are not involved in any kind of vandalism or thrashing in Ichgam”.

“The allegations made by people are baseless,” he added.

Pertinently, suspected militants thrashed policemen in Ichgam village a couple of days before.

The militants reportedly had come to snatch weapons of the cops who were weaponless.
