Police officer shot dead in south Kashmir’s Pulwama

Pulwama: In a second attack on cops in south Kashmir, suspected militants shot dead a police officer in Kakpora area here on Wednesday night.

Unidentified militants barged into the residence of  Sub Inspector Mohammad Ashraf  Dar in Larve village of Kakpora here around 9:10 pm and opened fire at him, a senior police officer told Kashmir Reader.

Dar,who was posted at the district police lines in Central Kashmir Budgam district died on the spot.

Dar was on leave to celebrate Eid with his family when militants attacked him, the police officer said.

Pertinently, Dar’s father-in-law was also killed by militants in 2014 in Rahmoo area of this district.

Earlier in the day, suspected militants shot dead a trainee cop Fayaz Ahmad Shah near his home in Awgam area of Kulgam district.

Police had also recovered bullet ridden body of a BJP worker Shabir Ahmad Bhat in the fields at Rakh-e-Litter area here.
