SRINAGAR: Various trade organisations and civil society members on Monday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar against the attempts to abrogate Article 35A, which gives special status to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
Carrying banners and chanting slogans, the protesters from various trader’s organisations and civil society members assembled in Partap Park to register their protest against attempts to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Javid Ahmad Tenga, President, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that about members of 26 trade organizations are protesting against any move aimed to tinker with the Artcile 35-A.
Tonga also said that all trader bodies have decided to continue the protests till the Supreme Court does not give a proper decision in favour of the Jammu and Kashmir state.
“We are fully supporting the shutdown call given by JRL on August 26 and August 27. We will not remain silent and will make any sacrifice to safeguard Article 35A,” said one Tenga.
