Srinagar: All parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) on Tuesday held a demonstration here against the attempts to abrogate Article 35A, which gives special rights to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
Carrying banners and chanting slogans, the Sikh members of the committee from various districts of Kashmir assembled at Pratap Park here to register their protest against the attempts being made to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.
JKLF Chief Mohammad Yasin Malik participated in the protest led by the Jagmohan Singh Raina, President APSCC.
“BJP is playing politics over Article 35A and Article 370. We won’t let them succeed in their designs,” Raina said.
Raina said that every Kashmiri, irrespective of region and religion must stand up in support of safeguarding special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Sikh community is fully supporting continuation of Article-35A. We will not act as mute spectators,” Raina said.
Raina extended support two day shutdown on August 26-27 called by joint resistance leadership (JRL) against attempts to revoke Article-35A.
