Bar slams nocturnal raids, arrest spree in south Kashmir

Srinagar: J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar on Sunday condemned nocturnal raids and beating civilians by security forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, adding three youths were also arrested.
According to a statement issued here, Bar said, “Beating people, vandalizing their houses, smashing window panes and damaging their cars, and arresting innocent youth during night hours by the security forces is the ‘worst kind of brutality’.”
Bar said, “Human rights council of the United Nations and other bodies should put pressure on India to stop these human rights violations in Kashmir and settle the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people to establish peace and stability in the sub-continent.”
The Bar Association also extends its greetings to Imran Khan and hopes that the new government under his leadership would continue to support the legitimate cause of the people of Kashmir.
