Srinagar: All Kashmir Auto-Rikshaw Drivers Union staged a protest rally here on Sunday against the tinkering with Article 35A and demanded the petition against state subject law to be dismissed immediately.
Scores of Auto-Rikshaw drivers with their Auto-Rikshaws took out the peaceful protest rally from Budshah Chowk and marched upto Moulana Azad (MA) road Srinagar while holding banners and chanting pro-Kashmir slogans.
Union president Showket Ahmad, told Kashmir Reader that the, “these mischievous attempts against the state subject law would give rise to state wide mass agitation, and we are up for its protection at any cost,” he said.
“We will not let the politicians to mislead us this time and our dignity is at stake and we with our families are ready to sacrifice our lives for safeguarding state subject law,” he said.
Similarly Kashmir Economic Alliances (KEA) in collaboration with Kashmir Shikara owners and workers Association staged a “floating” protest rally here on Sunday against the tinkering with Article 35A. The protesters sought the dismissal of petition against Article 35A in Supreme Court of India.
Under the banner of KEA scores of “shikara walas” while holding banner and placards pinned to shikaras took out the floating protest rally from Dalgate to Zeberwan Park Srinagar. The protesters also chanted pro-Kashmir and pro-Article 35A slogans during floating rally.
KEA Co-chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar said that, “Abrogation of special status (Article 35A) is direct attack on autonomy of the Jammu and Kashmir”.
“Government of India is implementing agenda of the RSS and BJP as they are hell bend to erase the state subject law which gives special status and privileges to people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Dar said that we won’t allow GOI to abrogate Article 35-A in the state at any cost as the Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and is enjoying its own constitution and powers. “He said that the conspiracy to remove Article 35-A is aimed to breach the special status of this State,” he said.
Shikara walas and KEA appeal the honourable Supreme Court to “Dismiss” the petition against Article 35A. “We demand the immediate dismissal of this petition so that the wild fear among the people of State would come to an end,” they said.
