SRINAGAR: The contractual employees working under Central sponsored Scheme, Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) on Thursday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding regularisation of their services.
Scores of protesters from various districts of Kashmir valley assembled here in Polo view Park Lal Chowk and shouted slogans against the state government for not fulfilling their “genuine” demands.
As the protesters tried to march from Polo view towards the official residence of Governor NN Vohra to register their protest, police swung into action and arrested some of them, who were leading the protest.
President of All J&K Saakshar Bharat Mission Mission (SBM) employee’s forum, Ishfaq Ahmad Shah said they have completed six years of services in the education department.
“The government have also started a process to frame a job policy for contractual Saakshar Bharat Mission employees for which directors of both divisions were communicated and joint director of SBM was asked to submit necessary inputs in this matter for further action,” Shah said.
“The file is lying in the office of Joint Director planning of school education department,” Shah added.
He said that “We are nearly 6000 highly qualified youths which are working as a contractual basis under the SBM Scheme. we are facing lot of finance problems.”
The protestors gave an ultimatum of 28th August to government for fulfilling their demands, or they will go for hunger strike.
