Budgam boy drowns in Jhelum in Srinagar

Srinagar: A Budgam boy was drowned in River Jhelum in Nawakadal area of Srinagar, sources said on Friday adding the incident happened yesterday.

The boy has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rahman Sheikh, a resident of Sitaharan Khag area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

According to the family sources of the deceased, the boy is nearly twenty years of age and was staying in Srinagar.

“He was working as a labourer there,” they said.

They have also accused that the authorities are not showing serious approach in carrying out searches to trace his body.

“We are again requesting to higher authorities to help us in fishing out the body as soon as possible,” they added.
