Srinagar: A court here Tuesday rejected bail to a Srinagar man accused of kidnapping a minor girl.
The court of Special Mobile Magistrate rejected the bail to Mohammad Ibrahim Bhat, resident of Zaindar Mohalla, Habba Kadal, arrested last month under sections 363 RPC by Police Station Zakura.
Bhat’s counsel pleaded that the girl had accompanied the accused out of her will, and thus there was no question of kidnapping.
However, the prosecuting officer, Syed Nadeem Hussain argued that girl was a minor and the accused was not entitled for any leniency. He urged that if the accused was admitted to bail he would hamper the investigation and tamper with the prosecution witnesses. On July 19, the girl’s father, a resident of Khimber Hazratbal, had filed a complaint with the police that her 16-year-old daughter had not returned home since morning after going to Hazratbal to get some household things.
The police registered a case, and as per case diary, tracked her mobile phone, which betrayed her location. They apprehended the girl when she was heading towards Batpora along with the accused.
