Court extends remand of four accused
Budgam: A local court here extended judicial remand for 15 days to four accused in the killing of a policeman and weapon snatching in Soura Srinagar on February 25.
Police produced the accused, who were on 12-day remand earlier, before the Court of 2nd Additional Munsif Srinagar on Tuesday, seeking extension of the remand for further questioning.
The court directed the police to carry out medical examinations of the accused. Police arrested the four youth, Umar Noor Bhat, Waseem Ahmad Sofi, Ubaid Zoji and Adil Majid Bhat, on July 23 in the case under sections 302, 392 RPC, 7/27Arms Act, Section 13, 18 Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The four are accused of carrying attack on Hurriyat Conference leader Fazal Haq Qureshi’s residence on February 25 that left a policeman, Farooq Ahmad, dead while his service rifle was snatched.
According to police Adil, Waseem and Umar carried out reconnaissance of the Hurriyat leader’s residence at Soura Srinagar for the attack.
