Mobile, internet service suspended in parts of Kashmir

Srinagar: Authorities today suspended mobile and internet service in parts of the Valley as a precautionary measure in view of August 15 celebrations in the state.

2G, 3G and 4G services were suspended by all private cellular companies and the state run BSNL in Srinagar, the capital city and other majors towns and districts of the Valley fearing law and order situation in view of August 15 celebrations, official sources told Kashmir Reader.

“The internet service was snapped around 1:00 am today. It will continue up to noon,” they added.

Only BSNL landline service and its wired-internet facilities are working.

Snapping internet service has become a normal practice for the authorities on occasions like August 15 and January 26. Internet service is also blocked in areas, where gunfight breaks out between militants and the government forces.
