Tricolor hoisting bid foiled in Lal Chowk

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday detained three non locals after they tried to hoist a tricolor at Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) on eve of Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that some non-local youth belonging to right wing were beaten upon by people after they tried to hoist tricolor at historic Ghanta Ghar here.

People also raised slogans in favour of Pakistan and militants on the occasion, they said.

Soon police reached the spot and detained three non local youth and shifted them to Kothibagh police station, they said.

Police confirmed the incident to Kashmir Reader and said “we rescued three non locals.”
