PAMPORE: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two persons who attacked and injured seriously a bank guard with a knife and chilli powder in a bid to snatch his 12-bore rifle.
Superintendent of Police Awantipora Mohammad Zahid told Kashmir Reader that police on Sunday evening arrested two persons who snatched weapon and attacked the J&K Bank guard Mukhtar Ahmad Bajad at Khrew, Pampore on Friday afternoon.
The accused persons have been identified as Yasir Ahmad Wani, son of Bashir Ahmad Wani, resident of Babapora, Khrew and Yawar Sultan, son of Mohammad Sultan Darzi, resident of Hudpora Shar Shali Khrew, Pampore.
Both the accused had also poured chillies on the security guard while making a failed attempt to loot his rifle. They fled from the spot after the guard repulsed the attack.
The bank guard while talking to Kashmir Reader said that a few persons threw pepper in his eyes and then attacked him with some sharp tool.
“Both the persons attacked me with knives and tried to snatch my rifle but I kept a strong hold on it and did not let them to get it,” he said.
Mukhtar Ahmad Bajad hails from Tahrat area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A case FIR No 57/2018 under section 307, 392, 511 RPC already stands registered at police station Khrew in this regard. Further investigation has been started, police said.
