Central Kashmir’s Chadoora shuts in memory of Hizb commander Itoo

Budgam: Chadoora town of this central Kashmir district is observing a complete shutdown today in memory of prominent Hizb-ul Mujahideen commander Mohammad Yasin Itoo who was slain in a gunfight with government forces last year on this day.

All shops, business establishments, schools and colleges, petrol pumps in Chadoora town remained shut today to commemorate the first death anniversary of  Hizb commander Yasin Itoo alias Mahmood Gaznavi, eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader.

The shutdown also affected the movement of traffic as most of the public traffic remained off the roads.

“Scores of banners have been raised in the town and adjoining villages in memory of Itoo. Many people also visited Itoo’s family to express their solidarity with them,” witnesses said.

Itoo, a top Hizb commander was among three militants killed in an encounter with government in Awneera village of Shopian district last year.

Itoo took command of Hizb after death of Burhan Muzaffar Wani in 2016.
