Srinagar: Block Medical Officer (BMO) Beerwah, Dr Bashir Ahmad Khan, has directed all doctors to pay Rs 700 and all paramedical staff to pay Rs 500 within a week so that a farewell party can be arranged for Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Budgam Dr GM Dar and other retirees.
The order titled ‘Farewell Party’ has been issued through a letterhead that clearly says, ‘Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Block Medical Officer’. It also has the BMO’s signature.
“It is not only an irresponsible order but a violation of official position as it has forced employees to contribute for the farewell party,” said a health department official.
Dr Bashir claimed that the order was “not genuine”. He added that it was already cancelled last week after some people objected to it.
“I don’t know who has circulated the order now. I think it’s a mischief because I myself revoked it last week, along with an apology to everyone in the block,” Dr Bashir told Kashmir Reader.
According to Director General Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem ur Rehman, the issue is under investigation as to why the BMO issued such a “silly order” in the first place.
“I have summoned him to my office to seek an explanation, because such an order is totally uncalled for,” Dr Rehman said.
