Baramulla: The residents of Watergam and its adjoining villages of Rafiabad in this north Kashmir’s district staged a sit in on Saturday against the authorities for failing to make the tehsil office functional.
The protesters, who blocked the Baramulla-Handwara road for hours, said that the Tehsildar Watergam was transferred some four months ago and since then the government failed to full fill the post.
“We are facing a lot of inconvenience due to the non-availability of magistrate in the area,” Abdul Majeed Malik, a local resident, said.
He said there are lot of pending files in the Tehsil office and officials are helpless for a single signature.
The protesting residents appealed authorities to fill the post as soon as possible and understand the problem of people. “Otherwise they (authorities) will face protests from our side,” they said.
