ULB daily wagers stage protest, demand regularisation

SRINAGAR: Urban Local Bodies daily wagers of Kashmir on Saturday held a protest demonstration here demanding the regularisation.
Scores of the protesters assembled in Pratap Park under the banner of Urban Local Bodies daily wagers and consolidated employees united forum and took away a rally to press enclave, chanting the slogans against the state government for not fulfilling their demands.
The protestors while protesting demanded the regularisation of daily wagers and consolidated employees working under Urban Local Bodies and release of the pending wages.
The president of Urban Local bodies employees united forum, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori said: “We are working in the department from last 20 years on meagre wages. We have been requested the government from time to time for regularisation but the government has never paid any attention towards us.”
A protester said the state government is going to permanent the services of all those daily wagers and casual labourers who have completed 15 years of service in any department. “We are demanding the state government to permanent our services us under our department’s own SRO 64,” said Fayaz Ahmad, one of the daily wager working in Municipal Committee Tangmarg.
He said that the benefits which are given under SRO 520, is grave injustice with them.
The protesters said that if their genuine demands were not fulfilled they will hit the streets again.
