Man injured in bear attack in Handwara; bear captured in Gulmarg

Baramulla: A man was attacked and injured by a black bear in Bangus valley in north Kashmir’s Handwara areaon Saturday afternoon.
Reports said that a bakerwal Saif-u-din Kharoo son of Abdul Aziz Kharoo, a resident of Poonch was attacked and injured by a black bear when he was grazing his sheep in Bangus valley on Saturday afternoon. The injured was shifted to district hospital Handwara where from he was referred to Srinagar for further specialises treatment.
Meanwhile, reports said that a black bear was captured by the wildlife officials on Saturday when he jumped into the premises of hotel high lands park at world famous tourist resort Gulmarg in this north Kashmir district.
Wildlife Warden for north Kashmir, Mohammad Sadiq Mir said that bear entered into the premises of hotel but our alert officials reached the spot and captured the bear alive and fortunately no one was injured.
The bear was later shifted to Dachigam national park.
