GANDERBAL: Police has arrested three men for allegedly stealing horses in Sonamarg. Two of the arrested men were handed over by locals who allegedly caught them red handed in
Shadkadi village of Sonamarg.
Locals had spotted four men near the Glacier Hotel in Sonamarg on Friday evening trying to steal horses from an open ground, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.
Two of them were caught and handed to the police by locals, the two escaped from the spot. One of them was, however, caught by the police later.
Police identified the men as Lateef Ahmad Kohli of Bandipora, Mohammed Ayoob Khatana of Rajouri and Fareed Ahmad Sheikh of Karnah Tangdar.
“At least seven horses were recovered from the spot. An FIR 18/2018 under section 379, 511 RPC has been registered against the accused,” a police official said.
