JAMMU: Intensifying its special drive for electrification of left-out un-electrified households, EMRE-III, Jammu Friday held an awareness-registration camp here at Bhalwal under the ongoing Saubhagya scheme.
The statement said that the venue was thronged by a large number of people, who availed free electricity connections on-the-spot as per the guidelines of the scheme. For commutation of people living in areas far away from the venue, a vehicle provided by the Department to facilitate them to reach the camp.
In all 200 free electricity connections were provided along with distribution of certificates and free energy meters among the beneficiaries, a statement said.
During the camp, the beneficiaries, upcoming consumers were asked to pay their regular monthly electricity bills on time to avoid accrual of hefty amounts on account of late payment surcharge, it reads. The consumers were also apprised of the digital payment methods for paying the electricity bills. Besides, important safety tips, while using electrical gadgets, especially during the ongoing rainy season were given to the consumers, it said.
The Nodal Officer informed that all the un-covered households across the State which are not covered under the ongoing DDUGJY/ PMDP schemes will be connected under the Saubhagya scheme.
Executive Engineer and Nodal Officer, 24×7 Power for All, J&K State, Sanjay Sharma informed that to ensure 100% electrification by the deadline of December 2018, the electrification works including erection of infrastructure are being carried out in parallel along with the release of electricity connections in a fast track manner. He further added that Block-wise targets have been fixed in respect of the concerned PDD Divisions and special dedicated teams have been constituted to devise and execute the action plan. Going by the present trend/ response from the masses, we hope to achieve 100% saturation of household electrification ahead of the timeline.
