Hajin villagers protest against non-availability of drinking water

Hajin: The inhabitants of Baharabad village of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday staged a protest against the Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE) over non-availability of drinking water in the area.
The protesters mostly women and children blocked the Hajin –Srinagar road at Baharabad for hours due to which traffic movement was disrupted.
The protesters were demanding restoration of the water supply in the area which is blocked for several Days.
A protester told Kashmir reader that, we have no drinking water for past several days. The department has turned a blind eye towards the problems being faced by people due to non-availability of drinking water.
Later police party Led by SHO Hajin Muneeb ul Islam visited the spot and assured the protesters that, he will talk with concern department for the restoration of drinking water in the area as soon as possible.
On the assurance of SHO, traffic was restored and protesters dispersed peacefully.
