3 cattle thieves caught in Sonamarg

Ganderbal: Two horse thieves were caught red handed by people in Shadkadi village of Sonamarg here in this central Kashmir district.

Four cattle thieves were spotted by the locals near the Glacier Hotel in Sonmarg on Friday evening when they were trying to steal horses from an open ground, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. While two thieves were caught and handed to the police by locals, another one who had escaped from the spot, was caught by cops after a chase.

Police identified the accused as Lateef Ahmad Kohli of Bandipora, Mohammed Ayoob Khatana of Rajouri and Fareed Ahmad Sheikh of  Karnah Tangdar.

“At least seven horses were recovered from the spot. An FIR 18/2018 under section 379, 511 RPC has been registered against the accused,” a police official said.
