Youth shot at, injured during CASO in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian: A youth on Friday was critically injured after government forces allegedly opened fire upon a group of people resisting cordon and search operation (CASO) in a village of this south Kashmir district.

Fayaz Ahmad Padroo, son of Ghulam Ahmad of Pooterwal was injured when government forces allegedly fired upon a group of people, who were protesting against the conduct of CASO in Tukroo village here this afternoon, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.

Padroo, witnesses said, recieved bullet in his chest. He was removed by locals to the nearby hospital.

Medical Superintendent, Pulwama district hospital, Dr Abdur Rashid told Kashmir Reader that two injured men were brought to the hospital for treatment.

He said one had a firearm injury and another pellets. The youth injured by bullet, he said has been referred to Srinagar for treatment.
