BARAMULLA: A day after this newspaper published the news story ‘Teachers found treating patients in Pattan, clinics sealed’ (9 August), the department of education started an investigation into the matter on Thursday.
Sources said a team of officials from the Education Department visited several villages of Pattan, where the Health Department sealed several drug stores and clinics, and collected a report from the general public. The team also visited the office of the Block Medical Officer (BMO), Pattan, and collected other information on all the accused teachers. The team has given assurances that they will take strict action against the accused teachers as they receive all information on them with proofs.
The Pattan BMO, Dr Masrat, said that the Health Department will also forward the names of the accused teachers to the Director Education and the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Baramulla, for their information and for immediate action against the teachers found treating patients at several drug stores and clinics.
Zonal Education Officer, Pattan, Miss Nuzhat told Kashmir Reader, “I talked to BMO, Pattan, and he will send me the details of all the accused teachers. I promise that I will take strict action against the accused teachers.”
CEO Baramulla Abdul Ahmad Ganie however said that had no information and would have to confirm it from the officers concerned.
