Four militants were killed earlier in an encounter that started on Wednesday at Vigi Rafiabad, Sopore, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the army said.
Official sources told Kashmir Reader that a fierce gunfight started between army soldiers and a group of militants in the hills of Rafiabad on Wednesday morning.
They said that the army had received information of presence of a group of militants in the woods of Vigi mountain range in Rafiabad.
As Army’s 32 RR and 9 Para commandos reached the area, militants fired upon them, resulting in a gunfight, the official sources said.
Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid yesterday tweeted that five militants were trapped in Rafiabad forests and the encounter was going on.
