Gunfight ensues in Rafiabad forests in northern Kashmir; para-commando injured

Srinagar: A fierce gunbattle ensued between militants and government forces in forest area of Rafiabad in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Sources said that after inputs about militant movement in the upper reaches of Rafiabad forests, a joint team of army’s 32 RR and 9 PARA commandos launched a cordon-and-search operation during Wednesday wee hours.

During the CASO the forces made a contact with the hiding militants thereby ensuing a gunfight. The militants, according to police sources, are believed to have infiltrated from across.

One Para commando has been injured in the gunfight , reports quoting officials said. The injured soldier belonged to 9 para commandos.
