Four militants killed in north Kashmir gunfight: Army

Srinagar: Army on Wednesday said that they killed four militants in an ongoing gunfight in Rafiabad area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

“Four terrorists killed in Liddrr Panzal (Baramulla) operation so far,” Army PRO Col RK Panday told Kashmir Reader. However, he did not identify the slain militants.

Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid earlier confirmed the presence of five militants trapped in the gunfight with forces.

Earlier a fierce gunbattle broke out between militants and government forces in forest area of Rafiabad in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The encounter was going on in Dooniwari forest area of Dangiwacha Sopore, which is in Rafiabad area.

Sources said that after input about the presence of militants in the upper reaches of Rafiabad forests, a joint team of army’s 32 RR and 9 PARA commandos launched a cordon-and-search operation during in wee hours.

During the CASO the forces made a contact with the hiding militants thereby ensuing a gunfight.
