Srinagar: Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Tuesday condemned the shifting of party chairperson, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, general secretary, Nahida Nasreen and press secretary, Sofi Fehmeeda, from the Mandoli jail to Tihar jail.
In a statement, DeM spokesperson, Rifat Fatima, said Aasiyeh and her two associates, who were lodged in Mandoli jail on judicial remand up to 10thAugust, have been shifted to Tihar Jail on 5th August without informing family members or the party.
She said that the family members of the trio were scheduled to meet themon Tuesday, “but once they reached inside the Mandoli jail premises, they were shocked to know that the leaders have been shifted to Tihar jail without informing anyone.”
She said that the jail authorities didn’t give any reason for shifting the trio to Tihar jail to the family members.
“This is absolute highhandedness, illegal and misuse of power. How can they shift these leaders to jail without informing anyone,” she said.
Rifat further said that the health of the party chairperson has deteriorated to a critical level. “Aasiyeh is being targeted and oppressed to extreme level only because she is demanding a genuine right for the people of Kashmir,” she said.
She appealed the people of Kashmir to hold special prayers for the speedy recovery and release of the party chairperson.
Riaft added that Aasiyeh is in jail since May 18th and is being subjected to severe suppression. “Apart from being lodged in jail illegally, she is being denied medical care and now is being shifted from one jail to other without even informing her family members.”
