SRINAGAR: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir on Monday said the adjournment of the hearing of Article 35-A case by Supreme Court “seems to be a well-thought-out strategy to ensure safe passage of some important events without any public disturbance”.
“As such, the people have to remain vigilant to safeguard this fundamental covenant,” Jama’at said in a statement issued here.
It said the people of J&K will not accept the abrogation of or amendment to Article 35-A of the Constitution of India, saying New Delhi will never be allowed to make “Palestine-like situation” here.
“The government of India has devised a vicious plan to forcibly occupy the land of local residents and make them homeless in their own native land,” Jama’at said.
“The vicious attempts to abrogate Article 35-A and Article 370 are done to change the demography and thereby frustrate the people’s demand for self-determination. Kashmiris are united to defeat all these sinister designs and will show no laxity in this case,” it said.
