454 pilgrims leave for Kashmir as Amarnath yatra resumes

Jammu: After remaining suspended for two days, annual Amarnath yatra resumed today with a fresh batch of 454 pilgrims leaving towards the holy cave shrine in Kashmir valley from Jammu.

454 pilgrims in an escorted convoy of 11 vehicles left from Bhagwati Nagar yatri niwas in this winter capital this morning, official sources said. The pilgrims will take Baltal and Pahalgam routes to reach the cave shrine.

Over 2.71 lakh pilgrims have performed the annual pilgrimage eversince it began on June 28.

The 60-day long Yatra will end on August 26 coinciding with the Shravan Purnima festival.
