Woman injured in bear attack in Handwara

HANDWARA: A woman was injured in a bear attack in Langate area of Kupwara district on Saturday.
Mehbooba, wife of Mohammad Rafiq Dar, of Bongam Langate was attacked and injured by a black bear on Saturday evening outside her home.
Local sources said the bear was roaming in the area from past several days and despite several requests Wildlife officials had not visited the village to take defensive measures. Residents said that the such attacks have become common in the area.
Wildlife Warden for north Kashmir Mohammad Sadiq Mir confirmed the bear attack on woman and said a team of officials has been sent to the area to catch the bear.
