Man arrested in nocturnal raid in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Srinagar: Government forces allegedly bursted tear gas canisters and fired warning shots while arresting a man in a nocturnal raid in Memendhar area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, the family said today.

Shakeel Ahmad Thoker, an activist of incarcerated Muslim Deeni Mahaz leader Mohammad Qasim Faktoo was arrested from his house in Memendhar during a night raid by the government forces, they said.

The family alleged that the government forces lobbed tear smoke shells and fired several shots in air when the arrest was resisted by them. In the forces action, they said, Thoker’s sister sustained injuries.
