Srinagar: Chenab valley in Jammu division on Sunday observed a complete shutdown against attempts to revoke Article 35-A.
The shutdown is being observed on the call of Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL). The shutdown call was supported by Anjuman-e-Islamia Bhadarwah and Majlis-e-Shoura Kishtwar.
Reports said that shops and other business establishments remained closed in the Chenab valley and transport also remained off the roads.
The government had also deployed forces at all the sensitive places to thwart any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is also being observed in Ramban district against any attempt to abrogate Article 35-A.
Reports coming from the district said that the locals held protests at several places in the district.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown on Sunday and Monday across Kashmir.
