Four more militants killed in Shopian gunfight, toll reaches five

Srinagar: Four more militants were killed in a fierce gunfight in Killora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district during a gunfight which started late last night, army said.

“Four more militants killed in Kiloora operation. Total five terrorist killed so far. Weapons recovered. Operation continues,” defence PRO Rajesh Kalia told Kashmir Reader.

One militant was killed in the initial firing during the gunfight taking the toll to five so far, sources said.

Earlier, gunfight resumed early today resulting in the killing of four more militants.

A contingent of army’s 44 RR personnel last night appeared in Killora village of Shopian last evening and launched cordon and search operation, police sources said.

As the cordon was being laid, the militants hiding in the area opened fire upon the army triggering gunfight.

Police sources said that gunfight was still going on.
