Dozens injured after army opens fire in Ganawpora Shopian

Shopian: Dozens of civilians have been injured during clashes with government forces in Ganawpora village of Shopian district in southern Kashmir. 

Reports coming from the district said that army opened fire on the funeral procession of the slain militant in Ganawpora, injuring scores of civilians. “43 civilians have suffered injuries so far,” local sources said. 

Among the injured nine have been referred to Srinagar hospitals with two bullet injuries and seven pellet injuries. Four civilians have suffered pellet injuries in eyes, they said. 

Meanwhile, reports said that almost a dozen militants appeared in Malikgund and Losedanow villages and offered gun salute to their slain associates. The militants included top Lashkar commander Naveed Jutt.
