Srinagar: A slain militant’s brother was picked up from his home late Thursday night and ruthlessly thrashed allegedly by the army, here in Lurgam village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The youth Mushtaq Ahmad Mir is presently at a Srinagar hospital being treated for his grievous injuries.

The family of Mir alleged that he was picked up by army men in the dead of the night and taken to some nearby camp.

“He was released later in the night but with serious injuries. His arm and his leg have been fractured and he has severe torture marks on his back,” a family member told Kashmir Reader.

The family has lodged a complaint with police.

SP Awantipora, Zahid Malik, acknowledged that some people had come with a complaint.

“We are investigating the case,” Malik said.

Defense spokesperson, Rajesh Kalia, refuted the allegations.

“Army did not apprehend or thrash anyone in the area,” he said.
