PAMPORE: A 60-year-old woman from south Kashmir’s Tral village died of a heart attack in the holy city Mecca in Saudi Arabia Thursday, taking death toll of Hajj pilgrims from J&K to two.
Hameeda Begum, wife of Ghulam Ahmad Ganaie, resident of Laribal Shikaragah, Tral suffered a cardiac arrest at a hotel in Mecca and was moved to nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead by doctors, sources in her native village told Kashmir Reader.
She will be buried in Mecca, her neighbours said.
Hameeda Begum had left for the Hajj pilgrimage with her husband on July 23.
Soon after the news reached her village Thursday morning, relatives and neighbours thronged her residence.
On Wednesday, a Hajj pilgrim from Banihal died in a road mishap in the holy city of Madina.
He was identified as Shamas Din Wani, resident of Bankoot, Banihal. According to reports, Wani was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle near Masjid Nabvi early Wednesday morning.
