Schools, colleges to remain shut tomorrow in Pulwama town

Srinagar: The district administration on Friday announced closure of schools and colleges in the main town Pulwama on Saturday amid fears of protests over the killing of a local militant in Sopore gunfight.

“All schools and colleges in the main town will remain closed tomorrow to prevent any law and order situation,’ Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar told Kashmir Reader.

Pertinently, Khurshid Ahmad Malik, 26 of Arabal, Nikas here and his associate Riyaz Ahmad Dar were killed in a fierce encounter in Drussu area of Sopore triggering off violent protests in their natives villages. One solider was also killed in the gun-battle that raged in the early hours today.
