Srinagar: Panic gripped Acchabal town in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday night after security guards of a National Conference (NC) leader fired shots after observing some ‘suspicious movement’.

“Sentry at the residence of former National Conference (NC) MLA Abdul Majeed Mir’s house in opened fire after observing suspicious movement around the house,” a senior police official told Kashmir Reader.

The officer said that no one was injured in the firing, even as the area has been cordoned off.

“It might have been a rifle snatching bid,” he added.
