Srinagar: Militants on Friday night attacked an army’s search team in a village in Shopian district of south Kashmir.

A contingent of army’s 44 RR personnel appeared in Killora village of Shopian this evening and launched cordon and search operation, a senior police official told Kashmir Reader. As the cordon was being laid, the militants hiding in the area opened fire upon the search team.

“The army returned the fire triggering off a gunfight. The exchange of gunfire continued for some time,” the official said.
