Srinagar: Two militant have been killed in an encounter with government forces at a village in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Friday, police said.
An army soldier was also killed in the gunfight Army said.
They said that one body has been recovered from the gunfight site while as his identification was being ascertained. Police sources added that search for the other body was going on.
Later Police confirmed the killing of two militants in the gunfight.
“Two terrorists of LeT killed at # Sopore. Identity is being ascertained,” Police tweet said.
An army soldier was also killed in the gunfight, army PRO Col RK Panday told Kashmir Reader.
“Two terrorist were killed in Drussu operation and warlike stores recovered. One soldier got martyred in the operation. Search operation going on,” Col Panday said.
Another forces personnel was injured in the gunfight with militants and was being treated, sources added.
Earlier a gunfight broke out between the militants and government forces after cordon and search operation was launched in the area.
The gunfight between militants and government forces took place in Drusoo village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, sources said on Friday.
